W. Tip Hall, Jr. Scholarship

Academic aptitude pays off

For more than 70 years, CoServ Electric has taken an active role in the North Texas communities we serve. Because CoServ Electric is a cooperative, we take seriously our responsibility to connect with our members, their families and the communities they call home. In recognition of the need to provide financial support to assist in nurturing and educating the youth in our communities, the W. Tip Hall, Jr. Scholarship was established to foster the continued educational development of local students.

The scholarship is named after W. Tip Hall, Jr., a longtime educator, preacher and legislator who served on the CoServ Electric Board of Directors for ten years. Mr. Hall’s love and commitment to education, and his work in developing the scholarship program for CoServ, is the reason the scholarship bears his name. The purpose of this program is to encourage and support the academic endeavors of graduating high school seniors with an established connection to the electric cooperative, as they seek their education in an institute of higher learning in the state of Texas.

In 2008, CoServ Electric awarded ten $1000 scholarships to the following local students:

Megan Higgins, Highland Village
Rachel Armentrout, Flower Mound
Wajiha “Jia” Khan, Little Elm
Thaddeus Brown, Little Elm
Travis Rhodes, Flower Mound
Samantha Delbecq, Argyle
Shea Cox, Sanger
Timothy Hollis, Carrollton
Katie Crutsinger, Sanger
Courtney Spuza, Sanger
